More of a Masonic Centre than a Masonic Hall

The Chatham Masonic Hall, maintained by the Chatham Masonic District Trust, boasts a comprehensive range of flexible facilities which one would expect from a building ‘built by Masons for Masons’. The Founders foresight has provided Medway Masons with a Premier Centre to be proud of.

A Grand design, steeped in tradition and history, yet able to cope with the demands of the modern Mason. It has also proves to be an ideal setting for the wider community – truly in the heart of Chatham. We welcome, and are currently home to Craft Lodges, Royal Arch Chapters and a whole host of side orders and degrees. We also house several non-Masonic organizations including the local Retirement association and the long standing Book Club. All guests and visitors are greeted not only by the stunning architecture but also by our friendly and professional staff who will be happy to serve pre and post meeting drinks in either of our two fully licensed bars.

On the upper floor, our Main Lodge Room or Temple is particularly impressive. It’s high ceilings, priceless antique Officer’s Chairs and the original Stained glass windows at either end make it the perfect setting for Masonic meetings. It’s seating capacity of approaching 100 persons is complimented for festive boards by the first floor function room which can cater for 100 covers. Our Centre Manager and Chef provides excellent Masonic Meals made in-house from fresh produce. The Masonic Menu starts with a typical four course meal plus coffee at very reasonable prices. Not only exceptional quality and value for money but also very flexible with no minimum dining numbers. Naturally, we also cater for special dietary needs. Masonry is often accompanied by music, so to cater for Odes, Anthems or perhaps even Christmas Carols, an electronic organ is provided in the main Lodge room and an electronic piano can be found on the stage in the first floor function room.

Access to the upper floor level is via the majestic galleried staircase. More senior or disabled guests can of course make use of the recently replaced chair-lift. If you are founding a new Lodge or just looking to move home, you will find a truly warm welcome at Manor Road.

A slice of Masonic Heritage

The building was erected in 1904 and was designed by the celebrated architect G.E. Bond who also designed some of Chatham’s most famous landmarks. It was built solely for the purposes of Freemasonry and supports a diverse range of Lodges, Chapters and side degrees. It not only caters for their regular meetings and the associated festive boards and festivals but today is also enjoyed by many different organisations, and available for wedding Banquets, birthdays and other celebrations.
